Silver Spangled Spitzhauben
Production: Good (3/wk)
Egg Color: White
Type: Cold Hardy
An efficient producer of medium to large white eggs, the Appenzeller Spitzhauben gets noticed by most visitors to our farm. They are white with black dots making them easily spotted. Their feathery heads make most think this chicken forgot to comb their hair when getting up in the morning. Named after the local women in Switzerland, who traditionally wore lacey bonnets, the Appenzeller Spitzhauben is also known for having large nostrils. This chicken is perfect for the track and has the ability to jump fences, out run its competition, and is a true high flyer. They are often found roosting in trees. This type of chicken was chosen by MGM Paso Finos LLC for their unique look and white egg laying ability. We are looking forward to strong harvest of white eggs from the Appenzeller Spitzhauben.
Beginning in the Fall of 2013, Fresh Eggs will be for sale
